Experience architecture through drawing—it’s a great way to get to know a city and its buildings! This year we will explore the variety, contrasts and diversity of Sacramento’s downtown public buildings, including some of our celebrated modern concrete buildings.

Get ready with a friendly tutorial, then disperse into small groups to draw. Afterwards, the group will reconvene and enjoy lunch while sharing their drawings. This is a great event for families, and children and students are encouraged to participate.

Please bring a chair, hat, sunscreen, a bag lunch and drinks. Paper and pencils will be provided.

Experience this touching biographical documentary on the recently deceased architect and environmentalist Paolo Soleri. It is the story of an unprecedented artistic quest. While uncovering Soleri’s legacy as an architect, environmentalist and philosopher, the film poses critical questions about mankind’s future and about architecture in a world facing environmental, social and economic crisis.

Before the screening, learn more about the new, dynamic Design District in progress in Sacramento’s Del Paso neighborhood. Innovative entrepreneurs have created a development plan supported by the creative class to re-build a distinct destination neighborhood like no other in the region.

Food trucks on site!

Sponsored by: Milgard Windows & Doors, Inside Publications, Mohawk, SD Deacon/Hogue, SMUD, Arden Garden Market, and Allsteel.

Looking forward to seeing you at both events!
